Amend the Constitution for Term Limits - Oh Sure!

Columbia Republican Examiner

Senator DeMint

While it is not very likely that any congressional action proposing a Constitutional Amendment for term limits will ever see the light of day, it is being discussed by South Carolinas Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC). The argument put forth makes a lot of sense, and a weary voting public is solidly behind the action, but the professional politician class will argue that the public needs their experience. The reasoning is the same put forth by Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT) in 1995.

The first Bonded Candidate Will Breazeale reported from his trip to the west that a well know Republican offered support; only to get hung up on his term limit pledge. After hearing her opposition Will asked quietly that if the pledge is the difference between winning or losing to a long term incumbent spender that he was proud to take the pledge.

"An idea whose time has come" J C Watts

J. C. Watts

In 2001, I was riding high. I had spent seven years in the U.S. House of Representatives, and had won my most recent re-election with 65.7 percent of the vote. Thoughts of becoming speaker of the House were dancing in my head. Speaker of the House -- third in line for the presidency, private jets, limousines, motorcades -- and all paid for by the U.S. taxpayer. The ultimate high

Historic First Will Breazeale Bonds His Pledge

Go to Carolina Journal 10_23_09

Even though the election is over a year away, Airline Pilot Will Breazeale is determined to put his country ahead of his own interests. Running on a platform that includes the Fair Tax, Term Limits, Earmark Reform and other common sense solutions for the political system, the Candidate threw his hat into the ring at an impressive announcement and signing ceremony held in the New Hanover County Government Center in Wilmington.

The Candidate is running against Congressman Mike McIntyre in North Carolina District 7 for the second time. "Last time I got off the plane from Iraq and signed up to run," he remembers, "and I did not know the first thing about running a campaign." He went on to say the McIntyre who was elected as a Conservative Blue Dog Democrat sees nothing wrong with the earmark process. He observed that a large symbolic check made out to a local community for a new municipal building was signed by Mike McIntyre. "That's not his money, said Breazeale, "it belongs to the taxpayers from around the nation." "Those folks ought to go out in their own community and raise the money for the building," he concluded.

The crowd was dotted with attendees wearing "Fair Tax" tee shirts who responded with enthusiastic applause when Breazeale spoke about unrestrained spending by Congress. "The only person who can spend more than the proverbial drunken sailor is a sober politician," he said to cheers.

John Skvarla, Chairman of the Board of Alliance for Bonded Term Limits, spoke briefly about the mission of his organization and then introduced Breazeale after declaring that this is truly historic occasion. "Some day," he remarked, "there may be a brass placque on the wall to commemorate this signing."

Breazeale, in turn, expressed his pride at being the first to "put his money where his mouth is."

In an interview with the Associated Press Paul said, Its about time we have someone who is an outsider and not a career politician in Washington."

The candidate has taken a position on the matter of Term Limits. You may read Dr. Pauls position as set forth on his campaigns web site.
